The Girl With The Purple Glasses

PG 1.

Eva and Ember are two sisters who love to dance.

They also play with their dogs Dixie and Big Man whenever they have the chance!

PG 2.

One day Eva and Ember were playing outside on a sunny afternoon.

When suddenly Ember spotted a floating balloon.

PG 3.

“Look at the balloon Eva!” said Ember with a smile.

Only it wasn’t a balloon Ember saw, but a plastic bag that had been floating for a while.

PG 4.

“Ember, that’s not a balloon, silly!” Said Eva, a bit puzzled.

“Oh, well to me it looks like a balloon!” Responded Ember with a chuckle.

PG 5.

Then Eva And Ember went inside, it was time for lunch.

Eva wanted some crackers, and asked Ember to grab a bunch.

PG 6.

Then Ember said “I don’t see the crackers, how about a different snack?”

Eva responded “But Ember, I can see them, they’re just all the way in the back!”

PG 7.

Eva became curious. Why did Ember see things differently than she did?

So she asked Mom who said “Well Eva, it’s because she’s a very special kid!”

PG 8.

Eva asked with a giggle, “Is that why she thinks the mailman is the ice cream truck when it passes?”

Mom responded with a smile “Yes, she has special eyes that need special glasses”

PG 9.

So Eva, Ember, and Mom went to the glasses store.

Where Ember found all different colors and shapes of glasses as they walked in the door.

PG 10.

Ember saw glasses with sparkles and patterns, and lenses big and small.

They were so colorful and neat that Ember wanted them all!

PG 11.

Mom asked, “Which glasses would you like, Ember? Aren’t they all so pretty?”

“I really like the purple ones!” Responded Ember. “It’s my favorite color, and they make me look so witty!”

PG 12.

So Ember put on her brand new purple glasses and was amazed at everything she could see.

“I can see things that are far away! I can see animals and birds high up in trees! It all looks so clear to me!” Said Ember.

PG 13.

Ember loved her new glasses so much, and so did all of her friends.

Even Eva wanted a pair, but since she didn’t need them, she decided to pretend!

Paul The Hockey-Playing Penguin

PG. 1

This is Paul, a penguin who loves to play hockey! His dream is to become the best ice hockey player in the world, but there’s one problem…

PG. 2

Paul is a Galapagos Penguin. So instead of having a sheet of ice to skate on, he and his family live on a hot and sunny tropical island, surrounded by sand, palm trees, and a warm turquoise ocean.

PG. 3

Paul’s family loves to surf in the ocean, especially his two brothers Rico and Darwin. They are the best surfers on the island, but wonder why Paul doesn’t surf with them.

PG. 4

One day Paul, Rico, and Darwin were on the beach when they asked, “why don’t you want to surf with everyone else Paul”? Paul responded “surfing is really fun, but what I really want to do is play ice hockey”. Rico laughed, “but Paul, there’s no ice around here, just sand!”. Just then Paul got a brilliant idea.

PG. 5

Paul took some coconuts and some bamboo and crafted a special pair of sand skates. Then he took a seashell and some driftwood and made his own hockey stick. Finally, he used one more coconut to make his own helmet. He was ready to play hockey!

PG. 6

But even though Paul worked really hard on his sand skates, it wasn’t as easy to slide and glide as he thought. Paul knew he needed to find a big field of ice and some more hockey players in order to truly live his dream.

PG. 7

Paul in his sand skates, stumbled up to Darwin and asked “Hey Darwin, didn’t you once tell me about a different kind of Penguin than us?” Darwin responded, “That’s right Paul, there are Emperor Penguins that live in Antarctica. They have a lot of ice there to slide around on”.

PG. 8

So Paul decided that he was going to build a raft and travel to Antarctica to play hockey with the Emperor Penguins. He was sad to leave everyone on the island, but they all knew how much Paul loved hockey.

PG 9.

So with the help of the other Galapagos penguins, Paul built a sturdy raft and he was on his way.

PG. 10

After 2 days of sailing, Paul arrived at a giant glacier of ice floating in the middle of the sea. Paul immediately heard the sound of skates sliding on ice, and started to jump up and down with the biggest smile on his face. He had found the Emperor Penguins!

PG. 11

The Emperor penguins were really impressed by Paul’s hockey skills, and they decided to give him their special ice hockey stick and ice skates. Then they gave him his own jersey with his name on the back. Paul couldn’t believe it…he was officially on the team!

PG. 12

Paul now plays hockey everyday with his new Emperor Penguin friends, but he still writes letters to his Galapagos penguin family to see how they’re doing.

Maybe for Paul’s next adventure, Paul should invite his new Emperor penguin friends to the island to learn surfing!

The End.

Mr. Darcy’s Zoo

PG 1.

Mr. Darcy lives in a small cottage surrounded by green fields of grass.

He loves animals, and has a dog, two cats, and a friendly bird named Max.

PG 2.

Mr. Darcy loved visiting the Zoo, and would bring along his pets for the ride.

But one day the Zoo closed down, leaving the animals without food, shelter, or supplies.

PG 3.

Mr. Darcy wanted to help the animals, he really did.

But he only had enough food and space for his current furry kids.

PG 4.

So Mr. Darcy and his pets went home after their disappointing find.

But they hadn’t noticed the friendly giraffe following closely behind.

PG 5.

It began to rain, and the giraffe had nowhere to stay.

So Mr. Darcy let the giraffe have his own room to sleep and play.

PG 6.

He named the giraffe Jeffery, but realized that his neck was too long to fit.

So Mr. Darcy cut a hole in his living room ceiling big enough for Jefferey to stick his head through it.

PG 7.

“Just one giraffe and that’s it” said Mr. Darcy once he was done.

He loved animals, but wasn’t sure about letting his house become overrun!

PG. 8

But then the next day he spotted an elephant sitting in his rose garden.

Mr. Darcy had such a kind heart, he had to let him stay, and named him Marvin.

PG. 9

“Just 1 giraffe and 1 elephant” said Mr. Darcy as he cleared Marvin a big space.

“I love animals” said Mr. Darcy, “But I can’t keep up at this pace!”

PG. 10

The next day Mr. Darcy woke up to two monkeys climbing in his banana tree.

So Mr. Darcy took a deep breath and said “you two can come stay with me”.

PG. 11

“Just 1 giraffe, 1 elephant, and two monkeys” said Mr. Darcy with a nervous smile.

And after building the monkeys a tree house he said “I’ve done my part, now I should rest for awhile”.

PG. 13

But what do you think happened next?

PG. 14

Mr. Darcy was introducing Jeffery the giraffe to the monkeys in the tree.

When suddenly he looked over at his pool and saw a hippo and 4 penguins splashing around with glee.

PG. 15

So Mr. Darcy turned his pool into a home for the hippo and penguins to splash and play.

And said “1 giraffe, 1 elephant, 2 monkeys, 1 hippo, 4 penguins, and THAT’S IT!” before going to bed for the day.

PG. 16

But on the next morning he heard a commotion outside on his lawn.

It was the rest of the animals from the Zoo. A big turtle, a zebra, a boar, and a peacock who had heard of Mr. Darcy’s kind acts after the Zoo was gone.

PG. 17

Mr. Darcy knew that the animals had nowhere to go.

And so he began to build more rooms and pens for the animals upstairs, in his backyard, on both sides of the house and below.

PG. 18

He built a rainbow pen for the peacock to show off her beautiful colors.

And he built a big tank of water for the turtle to play with his new penguin brothers.

PG. 19

Then he built a big open pen outside for the boar to run and play.

Followed by a fenced in field of grass for the zebra to graze and run around all day.

PG. 20

But Mr. Darcy knew he had to feed all of his new animal friends.

So he bought a giant bag of animal food for each animal. But it only lasted the weekend…

PG. 21

He knew he had to find a way to pay for all of the food to take care of the animals’ rooms.

And then had a brilliant idea…he would turn his house into a Zoo!

PG. 22

“I told myself I wouldn’t turn my house into a Zoo…” said Mr. Darcy

“But these animals need a warm and loving home, something that I’m happy to do”.

PG. 23

Then Mr. Darcy got wood, nails, paint, and stone to build his animals their brand new home.

He even brushed their hair and fur every day using his own comb!

PG. 24

And pretty soon, everyone in Mr. Darcy’s neighborhood started buying tickets to walk through.

They all loved what he had created. He named it “Mr. Darcy’s Zoo”.

PG. 25

All of Mr. Darcy’s animals were so happy to have a wonderful home.

And Mr. Darcy was especially happy that he was the one to give them a place to roam.

Artie And Rupert’s Big Day

PG 1.

Meet Artie, a boy who loves to go on adventures and travel everywhere without a care.

Together with his dog Rupert, they make an amazing pair!

PG 2.

One day Artie and Rupert went to the dog park to play fetch with their favorite red ball.

They saw all kinds of dogs there; big, small, long, and tall!

PG 3.

Then all of a sudden there was a new animal that wanted to play too.

It was a friendly cat, and to his surprise, he caught the ball that Artie threw!

PG 4.

All the other dogs at the park welcomed the cat and even offered him a bone.

The cat was so happy that the dogs accepted him as one of their own!

PG 5.

Then Artie and Rupert decided to go to the pet store to get Rupert some new food to eat.

When they walked in the door, they saw the owner Mrs. Appletree giving all the pets in the store a special treat.

PG 6.

“Oh hi Artie, hi Rupert” she said as she handed the rabbits delicious lettuce and carrots.

Artie asked, “Does every pet get a special treat, even the parrots?”

PG 7.

“Of course” said Mrs. Appletree, “Every pet gets their own special dish!”

Artie watched Mrs. Appletree give the dogs some bones, the birds some fresh seed, and the cats a couple of fish.

PG 8.

No matter how big or small, furry or feathery, every animal got their own tasty food

It made Artie and Rupert so hungry, they decided to go out and get something to eat too!

PG 9.

So Rupert and Artie decided to go to a fancy restaurant after a long day.

They found a nice place and asked for a table, but the owner said “I’m sorry, but we don’t allow dogs, there’s just no way”.

PG 10.

Artie saw that Rupert was sad because he wanted to sit and eat like everyone else inside.

But then Artie remembered a special restaurant down the street that lets pets in, no matter how furry, tall, short, or wide!

PG 11.

Artie and Rupert arrived at the restaurant, it was called “Pete’s Pizza For Pets”.

They were treated so nicely, got a table and some pizza, and they even gave Rupert a doggy bib to put around his furry chest.

PG 12.

Artie and Rupert learned so much from their adventure that day, and they both had a big smile on their face.

They got to see how treating everyone equally and being kind to each other truly makes the world a better place.

Grandpa Joe’s Adventures

Meet Grandpa Joe, a wise and kind man who loves to go on exciting adventures, tell stories, and teach valuable lessons along the way.

These are his two wonderful grandchildren, Tiago and Sierra, who could listen to his thrilling stories all day.

One sunny morning, Grandpa Joe asked Tiago and Sierra if they’d like to go on a hike to Strawberry Mountain, where giant magical strawberries grow at the top.

“The strawberries at the top are juicy, gigantic, and magical!” Said Grandpa Joe “You won’t find them at any store, stand, or shop!”

“Magic strawberries?” asked Tiago and Sierra. “How can that be?”

“You’ll see once we reach the top” Replied Grandpa Joe “some of the strawberries are bigger than trees!”

So Grandpa Joe, Tiago, and Sierra put on their hiking boots and packed their backpacks with juice and yummy snacks.

They were on their way to the top of Strawberry Mountain with the wind at their backs!

The first part of the mountain was easy and not very steep.

And after a little while, the three adventurers were already halfway to the mountain’s peak.

But then the mountain became a bit more rocky and tall. It was getting harder to climb.

Sierra asked “Grandpa Joe, how much longer until we reach the strawberries? We’ve been hiking for a long time!”

So the three adventurers sat down and took out some sandwiches and juice boxes that they packed.

Once they were done with their lunch, they were ready to get back on track!

As they climbed higher and higher, they started feeling very hot from the sun.

But then all of a sudden a cool breeze came and refreshed them so they could get back to their fun.

Grandpa Joe, Tiago, and Sierra were almost at the top…

When one final challenge arose – it was a raindrop.

“Uh oh Grandpa, it looks like it’s about to rain!” Said Tiago with a worried look on his face.

“Luckily I’m always prepared” replied Grandpa Joe as he gave Tiago and Sierra some yellow raincoats. “Now let’s keep up the pace!”

Then the three adventurers finally reached the mountain’s top after one last climb.

But when they finally stepped foot onto the mountain’s peak, they were shocked at what they would find.

The giant strawberries were gone, eaten by the mountain’s animals without a trace.

“That’s just too bad you two” Said Grandpa Joe with a disappointed look on his face.

“But Grandpa, it’s ok that the strawberries aren’t here” replied Sierra with a smile.

“Just think of everything else we got to do today, the nature we’ve seen, and the fun time we had all the while!”

Grandpa Joe turned to Tiago and asked “Do you feel that way too?”

And Tiago said “Of course I do Grandpa, I loved everything we got to do!”

Then Tiago grabbed Grandpa Joe’s hand and said “just think about it Grandpa, we were so lucky today”

Then Sierra chimed in “That’s right! When it was hot, we felt a cool breeze to cool us off and help us climb the rest of the way!”

“And when it rained, you gave us these amazing rain coats” Replied Tiago as he grabbed Grandpa Joe’s other hand.

“We’d be soaking wet without them, luckily you had a great plan!”

“I’m also grateful for the yummy snacks and juice we had before” Said Sierra.

“Without that, we wouldn’t have had the energy to climb anymore!”

Grandpa Joe smiled from ear to ear and said “This is why you two are the smartest kids ever”

He was so proud of them for being grateful even though they didn’t see the strawberries and had to climb through bad weather.

“And now I’ll leave you with a lesson of my own as well” said Grandpa Joe as the three of them began to climb down.

“When you’re happy with all that you have already, you’d be amazed at what treasure can be found”

Then Grandpa Joe pulled out a strawberry the size of a football from his backpack.

It was shiny, bright red, and would make one mighty snack!

The children gasped at the enormous magical fruit in front of their eyes.

“Grandpa Joe, you found one?” They asked in surprise.

“Yes I did” replied Grandpa Joe. “But I wanted to wait until now to show you two”

“Why?” asked Sierra and Tiago, and Grandpa Joe replied “Just a little life lesson of my own. When you’re grateful for what you have, you’ll be amazed at what treasure will come to you!

Look On The Bright Side, Suzy!

PG 1

Meet Suzy The Cow and Fred The Frog!

They live on a farm with chickens, horses, and hogs.

PG 2

Fred is a happy frog who always has a smile on his face.

Even if a bad thing happens, he offers a solution in its place.

PG 3

But Suzy The Cow handles her problems in a different way.

If something bad happens, she’ll be sad and grumpy all day.

PG 4

One day Suzie and Fred decided to play hide and seek in the pig pen.

All of the animals were playing there too, even the chickens and hens.

PG 5

“Isn’t this great?” asked Fred. “Hide and seek is so much fun!”

“But it’s too hot outside,” replied Suzie. “I can’t play with this much sun”.

PG 6

So all of the animals played hide and seek for the rest of the day.

But Suzie sat by herself in some shade near the hay.

PG 7

The next day Fred hopped over to Suzie in a hurry to surprise her with a gift.

He wanted to cheer her up, so he gave her a fishing rod to catch fish.

PG 8

“With this fishing rod we can catch fish near the river,” said Fred.

“That’s nice of you Fred” replied Suzie. “But I’d rather stay dry so i don’t shiver”

PG 9

“You’re right, we might get wet,” said Fred. “But look on the bright side… we’ll also have a super fun time!”

“I don’t know Fred,” replied Suzie. “Getting wet and muddy isn’t really a hobby of mine”

PG 10

So the two friends went home to sleep, and Suzie laid down in her hay bed.

But Fred’s favorite log was gone. He had nowhere to rest his head.

PG 11

“My log is gone,” said Fred. “Where will I sleep?”

“Oh no Fred”, replied Suzie. “I think the farmer used it to build a house for the sheep”.

PG 12

Fred was so upset that his favorite log was gone. He didn’t have a bed!

But then Suzie had a brilliant idea enter her head…

PG 13

“Don’t worry Fred, just look on the brightside! You can share my bed with me, it’s really cozy!”

Fred began to smile a bit. Then Suzie added “And now this way we can sleep together, and you’ll never be lonely!”

PG 14

“Well when you put it that way” replied Fred “I’m actually happy my log is gone!”

“That’s right!” Replied Suzie. “You’ve had a place to sleep right here all along!”

PG 15

Fred was amazed that Suzie was looking on the bright side of things at long last.

He decided to ask her “What made you so happy and positive this fast?”

PG 16

“It was you Fred!” Suzie replied. “You showed me how to be happy even when times are bad.”

Then Suzie smiled from ear to ear and said “that’s why you’re the best friend I’ve ever had.”

You Are Enough, Sunshine!

Page 1

Meet Sunshine, a sweet little girl who shines as bright as her name.

She loves her family and friends, but also loves herself just the same!

Page 2

Today Sunshine woke up extra happy and excited to start the day.

She brushed her teeth and combed her curly hair to make it bounce and sway!

Page 3

“I just love my curly, wavy hair,” said Sunshine with a pull of her brush.

Then she smelled a delicious breakfast cooking and ran downstairs in a rush.

Page 4

Mom had made Sunshine some yummy scrambled eggs, berries, and toast.

Dad was at the table too, and said to sunshine “Your hair looks so beautiful today!”, something she loved hearing the most!

Page 5

Sasha was admiring Mommy and how her skin was so beautiful and dark.

She looked over and admired Daddy’s lighter skin too, when he suddenly asked her “how about we go to the amusement park?”

Page 6

So Sunshine got into her family’s big red car and put on her seatbelt. She was ready to go!

They drove over a big red bridge, and the sunlight through the window gave Sunshine’s skin a beautiful glow.

Page 7

“Hooray, we made it!” Said Sunshine as they pulled up to the big exciting amusement park.

It was on a bright sunny beach surrounded by the ocean, boardwalk, and other pretty landmarks.

Page 8

Sunshine noticed her friends were there too at the back of the line, so she offered for them to go ahead of her and to hold their stuff.

“You don’t have to do that Sunshine! Just being here with you is so great” and Sunshine realized that she was enough!

Page 9

Then Sunshine offered to use her allowance to buy her friends some popcorn and cotton candy that looked like big pink fluff.

But her friends replied “You don’t have to do that Sunshine, just being with you is enough!”

Page 10

After their snack the kids got on a big exciting roller coaster and rode round and round.

When they were done, they decided to go to see some of the silly clowns!

Page 11

In the clown house were big curvy mirrors that made Sunshine and her friends look silly!

“Even in the funny mirror your curly hair still looks pretty!” said her friend Billy.

Page 12

But the fun didn’t stop there! Sunshine’s special day continued to be filled with surprises.

She and her friends decided to play some games and win prizes!

Page 13

It began to get dark, so Sunshine looked up in the sky to see the beautiful moon and stars.

“You see the moon?” Asked Mommy. “It’s bright enough to light the whole night sky. Just like how you are.”

Page 14

It was pretty late, so Mommy, Daddy, and Sunshine walked back to the car to drive home.

She gave her friends some hugs and said “you all made me feel like I’m enough. You’re the best friends I’ve ever known!”

Page 15

So the three of them drove home after a magical and exciting day.

When they got home, Daddy said “We should do this again on your birthday!”

Page 16

“Now it’s time for bed” said Mommy. “And I think you’ll like the surprise you’ll find.”

And when Sunshine went to bed, she found a glowing teddy bear with the cutest ears and eyes.

Page 17

“I got you this present to remind you” said Mommy, “that you’ll always shine as bright as the sun”

“Thank you so much Mommy!” replied Sunshine. “I’m as bright as this bear, and I’m enough as anyone.”

Page 18

Then Sunshine closed her eyes and said her prayers before she went to bed.

She thanked God for her beautiful skin and the curly bouncy hair on her head.

Page 19

“Goodnight God, goodnight Moon” said Sunshine with one last yawn.

She was thankful for all she had, and that she will always be enough for herself, her family, or anyone.

Page 20

“My name is Sunshine, and I shine as bright as the sun, stars, and moon.”

“I am enough, and don’t ever forget that YOU are too!”

You’re My Role Model, Grandpa Joe!

PG 1

Meet Grandpa Joe, a wise and kind man who loves to go on exciting adventures, tell stories, and teach valuable lessons along the way.

These are his two wonderful grandchildren, Tiago and Sierra, who could listen to his thrilling stories all day.

PG 2

One day Grandpa Joe decided to take Tiago and Sierra to the mall as a special treat.

“Let’s get you guys some new toys today!” said Grandpa Joe, “And maybe a yummy soft pretzel to eat!”

PG 3

So Grandpa Joe, Tiago, and Sierra got in the car and went to a big shopping mall.

When they got inside, Tiago asked “Can I please get a new baseball”?

PG 4

“Of course you can!” Said Grandpa Joe as he checked the map.

“There’s a sports equipment store here. We can get you a new ball, and maybe even a new baseball cap!”

PG 5

So the three of them went to the sports equipment store to get Tiago his new ball and hat.

When suddenly they noticed that someone had knocked over all the baseball bats!

PG 6

“We should help pick these up,” said Grandpa Joe as he grabbed a few.

Tiago and Sierra helped put the rest of the bats back until they were good as new.

PG 7

“Thank you very much for your help!” said the man who owned the store.

“You’re welcome!” replied Tiago and Sierra as they walked out the door.

PG 8

As they were leaving the store, Sierra asked Grandpa Joe for her treat too.

She asked, “I see some dresses and shoes over there, can I try on a few?”

PG 9

“Of course!” said Grandpa Joe. He was so happy that the kids were having fun.

“And look Sierra, it looks like you can get 2 for the price of one!”

PG 10

Then Sierra noticed that there was only 1 of the red dresses left in her size.

But before she took it off the rack, she noticed a pair of gazing eyes.

PG 11

There was another girl who wanted the dress that Sierra had found.

So Sierra took the dress and handed it to her, saying “you take this one, I can keep looking around”.

PG 12

“Wow, thanks!” Replied the girl, “We should be friends, what’s your name?”

“It’s Sierra!” replied Sierra, “My Grandpa Joe was so helpful earlier, and I just wanted to do exactly the same!”

PG 13

“Well that was certainly very nice of you” said Grandpa Joe as they walked out the store.

“I’m just following your lead Grandpa” replied Sierra. She felt so good being kind, she just wanted to be kind to others some more!

PG 14

And as the 3 of them left the mall, they had no idea that their kindness had spread.

Because back at the mall, even more good deeds and kind words were being said…

PG 15

The little girl was so happy with her new dress and felt like making someone else happy too.

So she saw another girl who was lost and helped her find her parents in a daring rescue!

PG 16

And the store owner who Grandpa Joe, Tiago, and Sierra had helped pick  up the baseball bats…

Had given a boy who lost his allowance a free ball and baseball cap!

PG 17

So it just goes to show…

That spreading kindness catches on quick…and helps more people than you know!

Max Goes To Space

Little intro text

PG 1

This is Max, a dog with big dreams!

He’s up for any adventure, no matter how extreme!

PG 2

Then one day Max had a brilliant thought…

“I should go to outer space…it’s worth a shot!”

PG 3

So Max turned his dog house into a makeshift rocket ship.

Then he packed a few bones and treats for the trip!

PG 4

Then Max asked himself “Where should I go?”

And then he said “I know! I’ll go to Pluto!”

PG 5

So Max set his course to Pluto and was on his way…

Up past the stars, around the planets, and the sun’s bright rays!

PG 6

Max finally made it to Pluto, it was small and blue.

Then Max got out, set up camp, and laid some bones out to chew.

PG 7

That’s when Max heard a shuffle of footsteps from behind…

He turned around and was shocked at what he would find!

PG 8

It was another dog, except he was entirely blue!

Max was amazed…there were other dogs in space…who knew?

PG 9

So Max said “Hi, I’m Max! Do you live here?”

And the space dog said “Hi, I’m Jimmy, and yes I do!” he replied with a cheer.

PG 10

Then Jimmy asked Max “How come your fur is gold instead of blue?”

And Max responded “I was just about to ask the same question to you!”

PG 11

Jimmy replied “Don’t all dogs where you’re from have blue fur too?”

And Max said “No, not on Earth, the only blue dog I’ve ever seen is you!”

PG 12

Jimmy was amazed at Max’s bright golden fur that stood out from all of the blue.

And Max was perplexed to see a dog with anything but a gold, brown, white, or black hue…

PG 13

But despite their differences, the two dogs were so happy to meet…

So Max grabbed a bone and also gave Jimmy some of his treats!

PG 14

“Thanks Max!” Said Jimmy with a mouthful, “These Earth treats are great!”

“You’re welcome friend!” replied Max as he put some more on his plate.

PG 15

Then Max said his goodbyes and got back in his doggy ship.

He was on course for Earth after a wonderful and exciting trip!

PG 16

When Max got home he reflected on what he learned in space.

It’s great to be different and unique, especially when you go to a different place.

PG 17

That’s because it’s our differences that make us special and unique,

And that you’re amazing whether you have a tail, nose, or beak!

PG 18

Max turned his spaceship back into a doghouse and went to bed…

…With dreams of meeting red, green, and purple dogs filling his furry head.

Dear Daughter

PG 1

On day 1 you were born and you were the tiniest baby girl.

Even though you were so tiny, you were already my whole world.

PG 2

I was officially your Dad, the greatest gift I could ever ask for.

To always protect, nurture, and love you is what I swore.

PG 3

On day 2 I fed you for the first time.

You spat a little bit back on me, but I didn’t mind.

PG 4

But after a while you loved when I fed you and didn’t complain.

I didn’t even have to make believe your food was a choo-choo train.

PG 5

On day 3 was the first time I heard you cry.

You were in your crib late at night and I rushed in to see why.

PG 6

I held you in my arms until you didn’t make a peep.

It was good to let your mother finally get some sleep!

PG 7

On day 4 I brought you into the living room for our first movie night.

Watching you stare at the tv in wonder was a pretty funny sight.

PG 8

You had no idea what was happening in the movie, of course.

But there was one scene where you were fascinated with a pretty horse.

PG 9

On day 5 I gave you your first stuffed animal as a special treat.

You grabbed it with both hands and started kicking your feet.

PG 10

You loved that soft little friend almost as much as I love you.

So when you spilled food on it, I was quick to wash it like new.

PG 11

On day 6 you heard your first thunderstorm.

It was loud and scary, and I saw tears start to form.

PG 12

It was my job as your dad to fight away your fears.

So I held you once again until your tears disappeared.

PG 13

It was day 7, and you’d already been my little girl for a whole week.

It made me so happy just wondering when you’d first start to speak.

PG 14

Even though you were still much too young, I had to try it.

I even said “da-da” to you with the small hope you’d reply it.

PG 15

I couldn’t believe it, already it was day 30 of being your dad.

And it was already the happiest 30 days I’ve ever had.

PG 16

Then all of a sudden things began to move very fast.

You were growing up before my eyes, more and more as the days passed.

PG 17

And what do you know, we’re already at day 60 of being father and daughter.

2 months of laughing, bonding, and giving you baths in warm water.

PG 18

I knew what was coming up, your first birthday ever.

And I had to make it big and exciting, so I had to be clever.

PG 19

So on day 365 I decided to throw a party for your first birthday.

To remember it, I took a home video that we could one day replay.

PG 20

Then before I knew it you were already so much older.

Here you are now, reading this book with me as you lean on my shoulder.

PG 21

Isn’t it amazing hearing about all the things you can hardly remember?

But don’t worry, I left out the parts where you had a pretty bad temper…

PG 22

You still have so much more growing to do, but there’s one thing you need to know.

No matter how much bigger you get, you’ll always be the star of my show.

PG 23

And if you’re ever lost, lonely, or sad…

Always know that I’m right here ready to be your dad.

PG 24

On day 1 you were born and you were the tiniest baby girl.

Even though you’ve grown older now, you’re still and always will be my whole world.

Unga The Ungubunga

PG 1

Unga The Ungabunga is a friendly and furry beast.

His Ungubunga family loves to dance and feast.

PG 2

The Ungubungas are planning a special feast tonight.

It’s Unga’s birthday, so they need to make the food just right.

PG 3

So all the Ungubungas ventured out to hunt for food.

Unga helped by finding potatoes for the stew.

PG 4

But then, the wind got colder and giant blocks of ice grew…

The whole land froze over, including the Ungubungas too!

PG 5

Thousands of years later Unga was finally found.

In a frozen block atop a mountain far from the ground.

PG 6

A girl named Sam found Unga and built a fire to melt the ice.

Unga was quickly thawed and said, “Thank you, you are very nice”

PG 7

Unga was sad he was the last of the Ungabunga tribe.

But Sam agreed to be his friendly human guide.

PG 8

So Sam brough Unga into town to see more new things.

Unga saw stores, fountains, dogs, and shoes with strings.

PG 9

But Unga noticed something about humans he couldn’t understand.

They were obsessed with tiny glowing tablets in their hands.

PG 10

Unga asked, “Why is everyone slouched and stuck to those devices like glue?”

And Sam replied, “They’re all like that, kind of like how you were frozen too”

PG 11

“Ungubungas aren’t like that” Unga replied.

“Ungubungas love to talk…dance…we are never shy”

PG 12

So Unga decided to help the people by teaching them a dance.

It was a special Ungubunga jig with a pretty silly stance.

PG 13

It took some convincing, but Unga got more people to join too.

It was so silly and fun that everyone started to groove.

PG 14

Ever since Unga’s visit, the humans continued to spend time with each other.

They ditched the glowing slabs to play with friends and hug their mothers.

PG 15

And don’t worry about Unga, he made out fine too.

He lives with Sam and her family in their arctic igloo.

PG 16

So next time you feel shy or alone…

Try to get outside with your friends, and put down that phone!
